Clinical Reformer
What is Clinical Reformer Pilates for?
Combining the principles of the Joseph Pilates method with the anatomical expertise of a chartered physiotherapist. As well as general fitness, Clinical, or Physio-led Reformer Pilates sessions are designed for rehabilitation, injury recovery, and managing chronic conditions in a safe, tailored environment.
What is Clinical Reformer Pilates?
The Equipment:
Exercises are performed on a "Reformer," a bed-like frame with a sliding carriage, springs, straps, and pulleys that provide both resistance and support.
Low Impact, High Benefit:
It is a low-impact workout that strengthens the entire body, with a focus on core stability, postural alignment, and flexibility.
Adjustable Resistance: The springs can be adjusted to either challenge muscles or support the body, making it adaptable to any fitness level.
What is Physio-led Pilates?
Clinical Expertise:
The sessions are instructed by qualified physiotherapists who understand musculoskeletal issues, injuries, and rehabilitation techniques.
Initial Assessment:
Before starting, you will typically have an assessment to discuss your medical history, current injuries, and specific goals.
Tailored Programs:
Exercises are modified and customized specifically to your body's needs. If you have a specific injury, the physiotherapist will ensure the exercises do not aggravate it, but rather help you recover.
Small Class Sizes: To ensure safety and precision, these sessions usually have very small group sizes (e.g., 4 to 8 people) or are offered as 1:1 sessions
Benefits of Physio-Led Reformer Pilates
Injury Rehabilitation: Highly effective for recovery from conditions like lower back pain, hip/knee replacements, rotator cuff tears, and sports injuries.
Improved Posture and Strength: It strengthens the deep stabilizing muscles in the spine, pelvis, and shoulder girdle, correcting muscle imbalances.
Safe for Specific Conditions:
It is suitable for managing chronic pain, arthritis, pre- and post-natal care, and osteoporosis.
Rehabilitation from "Pain to Performance": Guiding individuals from rehabilitation to a higher level of functional strength and performance
